Fabio J. Guzman-Ariza and Alfredo A. Guzman, senior partner and associate, respectively, of the Guzman Ariza law firm, joined the team led by José Luis Taveras, of the Fermín & Taveras law firm, to assist the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce in the preparation of the Adaptation and Transformation Regulations required by the recently-enacted New Company Law (“Ley General de las Sociedades Comerciales y Empresas Individuales de Responsabilidad Limitada No. 479-08"), which will come into force next June 19, 2009..

The Regulations spell out the formalities that need to be followed by current “Sociedades Anonimas” in order to comply with the new law. It also provides a step-by-step guide to be followed by companies wishing to change their corporate structure.
